Animated signs are plentiful at Hollywood casino, and these are just a small sample of the many that we have done. The best part about having digital signage is the ability to change them quickly or run a casino-wide show.

Robert Berning Productions celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2010. This is a short montage of various scenes captured and created by Berning Productions over the years.
Determined Warrior is a visual homage to the heroic saving, deliberate restoration and proud return to the fleet of the USS Cole, badly damaged in the terrorist bombing of October 12, 2000 in Aden, Yemen. Robert Berning Productions was commissioned by Northrop Grumman to document the return of the Cole to the Pascagoula, MS shipyard where it was originally constructed.
The terrorist attack tore a 40 by 40-foot hole in the side of the destroyer, killing 17 young sailors and wounding an additional 39. Investigators have since closely linked the bombing to terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.
Over the three days following the attack, Cole’s young, mostly inexperienced sailors fought desperately to save trapped crewmates and prevent their ship from sinking. Collapsed bulkheads, flooded compartments, spilled fuel oil, dangerous electrical conditions and soaring temperatures combined to create an inconceivably harrowing environment.
For their actions, 149 Cole sailors received 154 awards as recognition for heroism above and beyond the call of duty.
Commissioned in 1996, the USS Cole is named after Sgt. Darrell S. Cole of Flat River, Mo., a U.S. Marine hero killed on the day 30,000 marines landed at Iwo Jima, Feb. 19, 1945. The ship’s official motto is “Determined Warrior.”

It’s an interesting thing to walk into work and literally shake hands with a chimpanzee at 8:30 a.m. But this was just day two of a three day shoot for our client Ronnie Lamarque and the Lamarque Motor Company, the number one Ford dealer in the Greater New Orleans area.
In a 2007 television commercial, Mr. Lamarque, well known locally for his singing ability, performed “When the Saints Go Marching In” in support of the New Orleans team.
For the opening game of the post-Superbowl victory season, the charismatic auto dealer chose to go all out. How do you make a commercial that reflects the intensity of the Superdome when it shakes with the battle cry, the primal scream, of “WHO DAT”?
Ronnie knew. “We need break dancers. We need music. We need spirit and passion.” And … “We need a chimpanzee and a fire breather”, added Director Trey Berning.
So it began … three days of controlled chaos ensued on the Berning Productions green screen stage. Costumed saints fans, dancers of all stripes, a good old-fashioned New Orleans Second Line and yes, a monkey and a fire breather, all converged, stomped, jumped and twirled to the beat of a custom arrangement of the classic New Orleans tune.
Then the real work began … post-production. Senior editor and motion graphics designer Miguel Gomez tackled the project along with recently hired editor/animator Jack Lykins. According to Gomez, “Well over twenty layers of video were composited to achieve the final look”.
For Saints game time, :30 and :60 spots were produced. A music video version for the web is also being cut … so keep your eyes out for that as well.

Robert Berning Productions, Inc. and Berning Marketing LLC employees greeted the new year by announcing a year-long celebration to commemorate Berning’s 35th anniversary in the film/video production and advertising business.
Founded in 1975 by Robert Berning, Jr., Robert Berning Productions, Inc. first operated out of a two-hundred year old New Orleans French Quarter walk up. That original studio, 35 years later, has evolved into a complete creative communications complex.
A full-service advertising agency, Berning Marketing LLC, works hand-in-hand with the production company to offer strategic planning, design, web and media placement for clients with a need for integrated marketing services.
During 2010, which the company has proclaimed the Berning 35th Anniversary Year, a roster of events have been planned to support the company’s ongoing Social Responsibility Program, which began in 2008. Some of the featured events include employee-led charity drives for homeless shelters and blood centers, and hosting “green” volunteer opportunities in which the local community may participate.
Berning Marketing has already kicked-off this year’s celebration by donating 35-hours of creative services to the 9th Ward Field of Dreams, a small community group’s effort to raise $1.85 million for a state-of-the art football field and track at G.W. Carver High School. The original football and track field were destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The athletic fields will be used by all public schools and community members free of charge.
“For 35 years now, our company has helped corporations and community-based organizations across the South communicate their messages through various forms of media,” said Robert Berning. “When we were approached with the opportunity to support the 9th Ward Field of Dreams initiative, we couldn’t turn the opportunity down. This is a true, community-based project and I’m sure it will undoubtedly play a part in not only shaping the future of Carver High School students but the rebuilding of the entire 9th Ward community nearly destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.”
Eddie Brown, Berning Marketing Public Relations Director, said the advertising company is careful in avoiding “throwing money” at community causes and projects for the “feel good” factor, but rather seek opportunities where employees can offer their best assets – creativity.
“Instead of simply donating money to the 9th Ward Field of Dreams project, we knew as marketers and advertisers trained in long-term thinking the core-group of fundraisers still needed an official presence, the ability to keep donors and the community aware of the organization’s success, and some type of interactive tool or Web site to further market the 9th Ward Field of Dreams.”

Robert Berning Productions Inc. recently captured the christening ceremony of the latest U.S. National Security Cutter. Built by Northrop-Grumman, the national security cutter will carry about 120 sailors and has been named for Captain Dorothy C. Stratton—the nation’s first female Coast Guardsman. Stratton, who passed away in 2006, joined the Coast Guard during WWII.
Berning was on deck July 23 with a six-camera video crew providing a live news feed for national media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, and broadcast networks which included a crowd of more than 3,000 people.
During the ceremony, First Lady Michelle Obama smashed a bottle of champagne and said that Stratton was “one of the finest women in uniform.”
Trey Berning, Executive Director of Robert Berning Productions Inc., said “Filming the christening for a national viewing audience is an honor for the production company.”
Berning Productions recently filmed a documentary chronicling Stratton’s achievements for women in the Coast Guard through oversight of the commissioning of 1,000 enlisted officers and 10,000 enlisted women. During WWII Stratton coined SPARS as the name for the women’s organization created to free men from stateside service to fight overseas. SPARS is a contraction of the Coast Guard motto, “Semper Paratus,” which is translated “Always Ready.”
The third of eight planned National Security Cutters, the ship is 418 feet long, has state-of-the-art command and control systems and is considered to be the largest and most technologically advanced of the new multi-mission cutters. Cutters’ missions include drug interception, search and rescue and fishing regulation.
According to the “Coast Guard Compass,” sea trials for the Stratton are slated to begin summer 2011, and the ship is expected to be commissioned in 2012.

Even in the throes of a bad economy, smart organizations continue planning for their future. One current example of proactive strategic planning can be found at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
A new video, produced by Robert Berning Productions, highlights Armstrong International’s current and future development initiatives. The video is helping the airport to get the word out to local communities, air carriers, convention planners, site selectors, industry and political leadership .
While still recovering from the effects of Katrina, the airport began planning major infrastructure improvements to better prepare for a growing population and an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
A $400+ million dollar modernization plan is underway at the airport to upgrade standards of security, technology, passenger convenience and emergency preparedness. The airport is aggressively getting the word out to local communities, air carriers, convention planners, site selectors, industry and political leadership.
